Welcome to the Afterschool Resource Center!

The Afterschool Resource Center is dedicated to supporting afterschool professionals, school districts, policy makers and community members who are seeking information on training, funding, research and more.  Our Afterschool Resource Center offers resources through the website including links to research, publications and other sites that offer extensive information.  In addition, we have compiled lists by county of agencies and organizations that support quality afterschool programming.

The Oregon Department of Education has partnered with OregonASK through the Afterschool Resource Center to offer technical assistance to 21st CCLC grantees and their program sites.  If you are a 21st CCLC grantee you can click on the links below to access training opportunities and other resources specific to 21st CCLC programs.

Ideas That Make A Difference

Come share ideas and learn ways to make a difference in afterschool! Our fabulous keynote speaker Shelley Lucas will discuss how afterschool programs can help usher in new generations of socially competent American adolescents and help them be ready to compete in the new global marketplace of the future!

Engaging English Language Learners in Afterschool

 

How many different languages do you hear in a   day? Chances are at least two!  As our communities become more diverse, a rich variety of languages become more and more a part of our daily lives. In this workshop we will explore the foundations of language development and discover strategies for supporting English language development for non-native speakers. We will study how to create a learning environment full of activities and projects that meet each learner’s needs.
