On Friday, July 15th, U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-OR, heard testimony in a U.S. Senate education hearing held in a Portland at the Gilbert Heights Elementary School gym. 

OregonASK representative Beth Unverzagt joined representatives from OMSI, Self-Enhancement Inc. and other Oregonians, including a high school senior, to testify about the value of out of school time.  

Their message was confirmed by Merkley, who said "You have made the case that what happens outside the classroom is as important as what happens inside the classroom."  Click here to read the full article!

During their acceptance the teens thanked Willamalane Contractors Michael Klindt and John Tutrone for all of their instruction, inspiration and support in the Afterschool Millers Program (AMP) and to Springfield High School for having such an amazing program for them to attend.
